Always buy decent quantities of whole spices from an Asian supermarket. They are surprisingly cheap.
Cinnamon bark
Whole cloves
Bay leaves
Black peppercorns
Onion seeds
Mustard seeds
Cumin seeds
Coriander seeds
Fenugreek

1. Put a teaspoon each of the above spices in a clean jar and mix. You will usually use about half a teaspoon thrown into the pan at the start of most curry recipes. This is in addition to any powdered spices required in the recipe
