Vada koottu curry

For Vada
Urad Dal ( Uzhunnu ) -1/4 cup soaked in water for 4-5 hrs
Salt
Oil-for frying
For Gravy
Mustard seeds-1/4 tspn
Onion-1 chopped to cubes
Potato-1 chopped to cubes
Green chilli-2
Ginger-1tspn chopped
Garlic-1 tspn chopped
Red chilli powder-1 1/2 tspn
Coriander powder-2 1/2 tspn
Turmeric powder-1/2 tspn
Garam masala-1/2 tspns
Thin Coconut milk-1cup
Thick coconut milk-1/2 cup
Curry leaves
Salt
Oil
1. Grind soaked dal to a fine paste .Add little water if needed.Add enough salt.
Then heat enough oil needed for deep frying in a pan .
When the oil is really hot drop small portions of the batter and fry them till they turn golden brown.Remove from stove and set aside
2. Heat oil in another pan and splutter mustard seeds.Then add onions and saute till they become transparent.Add ginger and garlic and saute well.
Add the cubed potatoes and mix well.Then add the thin coconut milk and to it add the masala powders(chiili,coriander,turmeric and garam masala ), greean chillies and curry leaves.Mix everything well.Cover and cook in medium flame till the potatoes are half cooked.
3. Then add the prepared vadas to the gravy.Mix well.Sprinkle enough salt.Cover
and cook till the potatoes are well cooked and gravy thickens.
Finally add thick coconut milk and remove from fire.
