Uzhunnu vada/medu vada/urad dal fritters

Uzhunnu/urad dal-1 cup
Rice flour-1 1/2 tblpsn
Onion-2 tblpsn chopped
Green chillies-2 chopped
Ginger-1 tspn chopped finely
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Hing/Kayam-a pinch
Baking soda-1/4 tspn
Salt
Oil
1. Soak urad dal in water for 1 hr.Then grind it to a smooth paste without adding water or with only as little water possible.The batter should be thick enough to make balls out of it.
2. Then add all the other ingredients except oil to the batter and mix well with your hands.Keep for 5 mints.
3. Heat oil in a deep pan .Wet your palms with water.Then take a lemon sized ball out of the batter.Press and slightly flatten it with your palms.Then make a hole in the centre using one finger.
4. Deep fry in oil till golden brown.Enjoy with your evening tea.
