Apple dumplings recipe~
Recipe by(For the crust:)
3 cups all-purpose flour
10 Tbsp cold butter, cut into cubes
1/2 cup COLD vegetable shortening, cut into cubes
1/2 tsp salt
8 Tbsp ice water
(for The apples:)
4 apples, peeled/halved take out inner core
8 tsp butter peices
1 ground cinnamon
(for the sauce:)
1 cup apple cider
1 cup water
1 cup brown sugar
1 pinch of cinnamon
1. 1. In a standing mixer, add the flour & salt. Add cold butters. Mix together till incorporated.
2. 2. Start adding ice water little at a time while standing mixer is on: dough should hold together.
3. 3.take two plastic wraps, divide dough, form into a ball: and cover with plastic wrap. Set in fridge for 45 mins.
4. 4. (For the sauce:)
5. 5.In a large sauce pan, add water and apple cider. Then add both sugars: mix. Cook till it boils, and thickens.
6. 6. Flour table with flour: take one dough, flour both sides, and roll out with rolling pin.
7. 7.take a knife, and divide dough into 4 pieces: 4 squares:
8. 8.take one cored apple, and take a butter piece, dip the butter in cinnamon, and place it right in the middle of the apple.
9. 9.Take water, and run it around the edges of the dough: wrap the pie crust around apple: and pinch everything together.
10. 10. Take a baking sheet, line it with foil, and on top a baking dish: with greased butter:
11. 11. Put dumplings in baking dish. Take sauce and pour over dumplings: mostly the sauce is going to cook in.
12. 12.put in oven 425*, for 35 mins. Till top is golden brown:
13. 13.when done, scoop out, and pour sauce over
